The Role

The Consumer Banking team is a new team within the Global Consumer Services Group (GCSG) at American Express. This team seeks to expand the concept of Card membership through a relevant, curated set of financial services products with differentiated value.

As part of the larger Consumer Banking team, the Digital Product Development team is responsible for launching internally built or partner sourced products and services that support the team vision. To support the product development process, we have created a product enablement and PMO function that leads key workstreams associated with launches of new features and partner integrations, as well as coordinating PMO for project workstreams leading up to launch. The Manager/Sr. Manager will be stacked against various projects, leading efforts to collaborate with internal and external partners to collect and action on their feedback and requirements, with the ultimate goal of receiving launch approvals and establishing a risk-based control framework. Ultimately, this Manager/Sr. Manager will work closely with product management teams, digital product owners and the various risk partner groups (e.g. compliance, legal, privacy) to drive agility and timely launches.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead product enablement for new and existing digital products:

    • Manage approval workstreams required for launching new digital products and features within Consumer Banking.

    • Lead efforts to onboard 3rd party partners and represent them to approval committees.

    • Act as the face of a project and the product team to key partners across American Express.

    • Anticipate potential risks and issues, and proactively partner with risk partners to identify appropriate solutions or workarounds.

    • Lead discussions with Product, Business Development, Operational Excellence, Risk, Marketing and Servicing teams to guide a project through appropriate UX, comms and flows reviews.

  • Oversee workstream statuses using established PMO tools and processes to ensure timely completion of activities, identify blockers and provide iterative updates to leadership about project and workstream statuses.

  • Build and manage relationships with partners, keeping them informed of current and upcoming projects

  • Develop expertise and understanding of partners' needs and ways of thinking to proactively influence product development efforts

  • Contribute to product ideation through collection and implementation of partner, customer and internal stakeholder feedback

  • Contribute to continual process and tool improvements to increase agility and speed to market

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA a plus

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Effective communication and influencing skills with the ability to work with partners across different functions and with colleagues at all levels.

  • Experience in managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.

  • A self-starter with an ability to operate in dynamic and often ambiguous environments.

  • Curiosity and hunger to know how things work and ability to use that knowledge to make connections and find opportunities for improvement.

  • Experience and passion for digital products; understanding of consumer banking trends a plus.

  • Employment eligibility to work at American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for this position.

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
